The answers below cover practical questions customers often ask before and during bathroom or tiling work.
Starting your enquiry
What should I include in my first message?
A short description of the work is enough. Photographs and links to any bathroom fittings or tiles you are considering can follow later. If there is a leak or damaged area, a photograph of it is useful.
Can you give an initial estimate from photographs, or will you need to visit first?
Often, yes. Photographs can help Vlad give an initial estimate. A visit may still be needed before the work and price are confirmed.
Do you provide free quotations?
Yes. We provide free quotations for bathroom and tiling work. Contact us to discuss your project.
Do I need to choose everything before requesting a quote?
No. You can contact us with a simple description of what you would like to change. Product links and tile choices can be added later, and Vlad can check their suitability before the final plan and shopping list are agreed.
What photographs should I send?
Please send wide views of the bathroom or area to be tiled, plus close-ups of anything you would like changed or any damage. These help show both the layout and the details.
Do I need to provide room measurements?
If you have measurements, you can send them, but Vlad will measure everything himself before the work starts.
Quotations and materials
What does the quotation cover?
The quotation covers labour for the agreed work. The bathroom suite, fittings, tiles and waste disposal are paid for separately. Building materials are usually paid for separately.
What affects the cost of a bathroom renovation?
Bathroom size alone does not determine the price. The amount of removal, plumbing, fitting and tiling involved can make a greater difference. Moving fittings, changing the layout, preparing uneven walls or floors, and more detailed tiling can all add work. Once the scope and main product choices are clear, Vlad can prepare a detailed quotation.
Do you charge per job, per day or per square metre?
Vlad usually charges per job rather than by the day or per square metre.
Should I buy tiles before contacting you?
You can, but it is often better to check first. Tile size, thickness, finish and the condition of the wall or floor can affect the job.
Who buys the bathroom suite, fittings and tiles?
You normally buy the bathroom suite, fittings and wall and floor tiles. Vlad can help prepare or check your shopping list, advise on suitability and product quality, recommend commonly used suppliers and pass on any available trade discounts.
How many tiles should I order?
Vlad will check the measurements and confirm how many square metres of tiles you need.
Who supplies the building materials?
Vlad supplies the building materials needed for the agreed bathroom or tiling work. You pay the price he pays, with any available trade discounts passed on. When the work is complete, you receive a detailed breakdown of the materials supplied and their final cost.
How much will the building materials cost?
Vlad will confirm the cost of the building materials once he has reviewed the work.
How is waste disposal handled?
You can arrange waste disposal yourself, or ask Vlad for a separate price to organise it.
Booking and payment
Is a booking deposit required?
For most complete bathroom renovations, a £300 booking deposit is required to reserve the agreed start date. This helps Vlad plan the schedule reliably and keep the time set aside for each customer. The deposit is deducted from the final amount, and the main payment is made on completion.
When is the labour payment due?
The labour payment is due once the work is complete.
Do you charge VAT?
No VAT is charged on labour.
Timescales and practical arrangements
How soon could the work start?
This depends on the current schedule, the work involved and when the chosen fittings and tiles will be available. Vlad can discuss the earliest practical start date once the details are clearer.
How long does a standard full bathroom project usually take?
Most standard full bathroom projects take approximately 5–7 working days. Larger rooms or projects involving additional preparation, plumbing changes, detailed tiling or longer drying times may take longer.
Can I use the bathroom while work is taking place?
During a complete bathroom renovation, the bathroom will normally be out of use while the work is taking place. During a partial update, the toilet or other unaffected facilities may remain available, depending on the work involved.
When can a newly tiled shower be used?
For a newly tiled shower area, Vlad normally recommends waiting approximately one week after grouting before using the shower, allowing the grout to dry and cure properly.
Who will carry out the work?
Vlad and his colleague Niko carry out the work.
Do you remove the old bathroom before fitting the new one?
Yes. We remove the existing bathroom fittings and tiles as part of the renovation. Waste disposal is paid for separately, if quoted.
Do you waterproof bath and shower areas?
Yes. We waterproof the areas where needed. Waterproofing is included in the labour, while the materials are usually charged separately.
How are floors protected, and how is the work area left?
Floor protection is used where needed. The work area is organised and given a basic clean at the end of each day, then cleaned and left tidy when the work is finished.
Bathroom and tiling work can still create dust, especially when old tiles are being removed, so moving loose belongings and keeping nearby doors closed where practical can help.
Is final painting included?
Final painting is normally arranged separately. Our work covers bathroom fitting, tiling and practical installation.
Services and areas
Can you replace only part of my bathroom?
Yes. We can repair or update part of the bathroom without renovating the whole room. Send a description so Vlad can check what is involved.
Do you undertake tiling-only work?
Yes. We carry out separate wall and floor tiling work.
Do you renovate en-suites, shower rooms and downstairs cloakrooms?
Yes. We renovate en-suite bathrooms, shower rooms, downstairs toilets and cloakrooms.
Can you replace a bath with a shower, or a shower with a bath?
Yes. We carry out bath-to-shower and shower-to-bath conversions, where the bathroom layout and plumbing allow.
Can you help with or change the bathroom layout?
Vlad can help with practical bathroom layout ideas. Whether the layout can be changed depends on the space and existing pipework. Send photographs and a description of the changes you would like him to check.
Do you work on kitchens?
We tile kitchen walls, floors and splashbacks, but do not carry out full kitchen renovations.
Which areas do you cover?
We are based in Woodford Green and also work in Woodford, South Woodford, Wanstead, Leytonstone, Buckhurst Hill, Loughton, Chigwell, Chingford and Walthamstow, as well as other nearby areas.
Every enquiry is considered according to the work involved, location and availability.
Insurance, guarantee and examples
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Cube Tiling & Bathrooms is fully insured.
Do you provide a workmanship guarantee?
Our standard workmanship guarantee is one year. If there is a problem with our work in the future, Vlad usually goes back and puts it right without charging. Product and manufacturer warranties are separate.
Where can I see examples of your work and customer feedback?
You can see examples of bathroom and tiling work in our Gallery and read customer feedback on our Testimonials page.
